Leopard Geckos are insectivores and cannot eat vegetables or fruits. Their body can only digest meat. They can’t digest plant matter. A nutritious, balanced diet is essential to keep them healthy.

Superworms

Butterworms

  • They are rich in fat, minerals, and water.

Silkworms

  • They are high in protein and low in fat. They have more calcium and protein.

Food you should avoid eating feeding to your Leopard Geckos

Serving your leopard geckos the wrong food could cause harmful and serious health problems.

Do not feed the following list of food to your leopard geckos are given below-

  • Wild caught insects
  • Mice
  • Birds
  • Plants matter, fruits, and vegetables.
  • Dead bugs- Because they don’t have the same nutritional value as live bugs.
  • Pellet foods- They have small rounded, spherical, or cylindrical bodies.
  • Stink bugs- They have a bad taste and smell.
  • Fireflies and bioluminescent insects.

Note- Leopard Geckos don’t eat insects that are too large.

How many times should you feed a Leopard Gecko a day?

  • Leopard geckos' diet consists of live insects such as crickets, Dubia roaches, silkworms, and other insects.
  • Baby geckos feed every day, Juveniles should feed every 1-2 days and adult geckos should feed 2-3 times per week.
  • Gravid leopard geckos may refuse food but should be offered daily until they eat again, Sicky geckos should be fed once a day until they get their strength again.

What time should you feed Leopard Geckos?

It is recommended to feed your pet in the late afternoon or early evening hours, preferably between 7 - 9 p.m.

They should not be fed during the day or in the middle of the night. Feeding at the wrong time can create digestive issues and problems with sleeping.

How much food should my Leopard Gecko eat?

Baby leopard geckos should be fed 4-7 small crickets or mealworms every day up to they reach about 5 inches and Adult leopard geckos should be fed 6-8 large cricket or mealworms and 1 hornworm 2 to 3 times a week. 

A dish of fresh water should be available at any time. Give them Appropriate sized insects.

  • For Necessary food- Cricket, Mealworm, Superworm, and Hornworm
  • For Supplement- Calciworms and waxworms.

Should I feed my Leopard Gecko every day?

Yes, you can feed baby leopard geckos every day until they reach about 5 inches. Juveniles should be fed every 1-2 days and adults 2-3 times a week. Healthy adult geckos should be fed every other day and Sicky geckos should be fed once a day till they become healthy.
