Maintain your Planted Aquarium properly

In this guide, we recommend the following daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance routines for aquarium plants.

Daily Maintenance

  1. Use liquid carbon and dosing fertilizers. If you don't get your daily dose of liquid carbon, your plants won't get a constant supply of carbon. Algal growth might be exacerbated by fluctuating levels.
  2. Remove dead and rotten leaves. Their decomposition will lead to the growth of algae.
  3. Check your Aquarium water temperature. Any faults together along with your heater should imply your temperature drops that may damage fish & plants, particularly in winter.
  4. Clean the aquarium window glass and refill it with water as needed.

Weekly Maintenance

  1. Every week, perform a minimum of 30 percent Aquarium water change. This reduces the accumulation of organic waste, which algae feed on. Until your tank grows, you should change the water more frequently during the first 2-4 weeks. 2-3 times a week will help reduce the risk of algae outbreaks during your aquarium's most vulnerable stages. After your tank has matured, you should limit the number of water changes you perform each week.
  2. Make sure that the aquarium equipment (heaters, filters, light timers, CO2 equipment, etc.) is functioning properly. Defects can affect the stability of the planted aquarium.
  3. Clean glass, hardscape, and plant take-off. In the event that you're experiencing a huge construct-up of green growth, truly consider lessening your lighting, checking on your CO2 levels, and expanding the sum of water changes. Cleaning green growth out of the tank is as it were a brief-term arrangement, halting the cause of algae could be a long-term arrangement.
  4. Use your plant scissors to trim your plants. Trim plants on a regular basis to encourage desirable development and keep them from becoming out of control. It's also your chance to be creative and create a beautiful planted aquarium! Remove the lowest leaves from any cuttings, clip the roots, and replant them into your substrate.

Monthly Maintenance

  1. Clean the filter. Clean your filter media well, it is often best to do this with aquarium water taken from a water exchange. Cleaning the filter removes organic waste that has accumulated on the filter over time. You don't have to worry about killing the beneficial bacteria in the filter. Sufficient remains to deal with the natural ecosystem of the tank.
  2. Clean your tank's pipes, lily pipes, and any other equipment inside and outside. It's all about the presentation!
